I am on a mission.
Too many times have I been served insipid Sunday Lunch in Brighton Pubs. I am going to hunt down and chow down on the best roast Sunday dinner that I can find in Brighton.
This may take some time for several reasons, but mainly because I can only eat a Roast Dinner at lunch time on a Sunday.
I shall be looking foe the crispiest roast potatoes, the yorkshiriest yorkshire pudding. But my main focus will be roast meat.
The problem is…
Pubs tend to prepare a single roast and then keep it warm throughout the day. However they go about this it will almost certainly fail. The very worst method is keeping it in the oven in a pan of gravy. The end result is boiled meat; not roasted. This could almost be considered a crime under the trade-descriptions act.
The ideal would obviously be a carvery, but that isn’t very publike. So I aim to find the best real pub, serving real Sunday Lunch.
I had been ignoring this blog for a while and didn’t realise that it was getting so many visits – I suggest you take a look at the is more up to date site if you are looking for a Brighton Sunday roast then this link will take you to more up to date reviews.
I will keep you informed of my progress…
