I started this site SUNDAY ROAST BRIGHTON because I was getting so much traffic on my “proper” site The Brighton Hussy. The review article Brighton Sunday Roast is the most read page every weekend, so that means a lot of people in Brightonia are not happy with swill warmed up and doled out in their local pub. I have written the reviews to begin with, but please take the time to come back and post a comment with your experiences.
I am on a mission.
Too many times have I been served insipid Sunday Lunch in Brighton Pubs. I am going to hunt down and chow down on the best roast Sunday dinner that I can find in Brighton.
This may take some time for several reasons, but mainly because I can only eat a Roast Dinner at lunch time on a Sunday.
I shall be looking foe the crispiest roast potatoes, the yorkshiriest yorkshire pudding. But my main focus will be roast meat.
The problem is…
Pubs tend to prepare a single roast and then keep it warm throughout the day. However they go about this it will almost certainly fail. The very worst method is keeping it in the oven in a pan of gravy. The end result is boiled meat; not roasted. This could almost be considered a crime under the trade-descriptions act.
The ideal would obviously be a carvery, but that isn’t very publike. So I aim to find the best real pub, serving real Sunday Lunch.
I will keep you informed of my progress…
